Project Overview:
To insure that Erythros responses to the forced prostitution of migrants remain relevant to this ever-changing and dynamic phenomenon,  we constantly incorporate lessons learned and field experience into the ideologies and criteria behind project activities.This re-evaluation of the phenomenon includes exploration of the new environments in which the phenomenon exists, and investigation and possible inclusion of other categories of participants involved in the phenomenon. Finally, the association is constantly devising new project methodologies and new ways of sensitizing society to the issue.

Areas of intervention and methodologies:
A mobile unit was established in 1996 within the “Invisible City” project, not only as a harm reduction measure, but also to favor the exit of trafficking victims from their exploitation.

Synopsis of the important steps in history of the phenomenon:
Trafficking projects are implemented under the auspices of the Roxanne project. Roxanne is an Italian government measure created in response to the appearance of immigrant prostitutes on Italian streets in the beginning of the 1980s.

Current status of the phenomenon:
The general structure of street prostitution has changed in recent years, following changes in the nature of incoming migratory flows, as well as the decisive contrast measures put in place by law enforcement.

Emergent problems

• Immigration and trafficking:
  Women destined for prostitution seem to be trafficked through the same channels used for the general flow of labor migrants.
